Frederick Kiefer is University Distinguished Professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he teaches Elizabethan and Jacobean drama. He earned his B.A. in English at Loyola College, Maryland, and his M.A. and Ph.D. at Harvard University. He is the author of English Drama from “Everyman” to 1660: Performance and Print. (Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, 2015), Shakespeare’s Visual Theatre: Staging the Personified Characters. (Cambridge University Press, 2003),Writing on the Renaissance Stage: Written Words, Printed Pages, Metaphoric Books. (University of Delaware Press, 1996), and Fortune and Elizabethan Tragedy. (The Huntington Library, 1983).  He is also the editor of Masculinities and Femininities in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Arizona Studies in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, 2009).
