These 4-week online workshops are designed for faculty and graduate students to develop skills in designing literacy curriculum for traditional, blended, and online course modalities. Through required readings, discussions, and activities, participants will conduct a learner analysis to support a variety of students, create a course map to enhance course alignment, and apply chosen instructional frameworks within instructional planning narratives. The three-part series allows learners to choose one, two, or all three workshops to demonstrate skill competency. Participants who complete all three courses earn the comprehensive Design Literacy Instruction microcredential badge series, validating competencies to design literacy instruction and enhancing their professional marketability.
- Learners who successfully complete all three workshops earn combined credentials, also noted as “stacked” by the Credly certification platform.
- Learners who successfully complete a single workshop or two earn individual badges for unit completion.

Eligibility and Enrollment
This microcredential badging course is currently available to English Department faculty and graduate students. The workshop is limited to 15 participants. Note: First-Year graduate students are not eligible to complete badging for the Learning Framework. Learners require student course surveys.
Enrollment Priority
- Instructors teaching Professional Technical Writing courses (Fall 2026)
- Graduating GATs
- Other English Department faculty and graduate students (first-come, first-serve)
Eligible instructors should complete the Digital Badge Registration Request form. Individuals not affiliated with the English Department may contact the POC to express interest in future offerings. Enrollment closes August 20, 2026 for the first session, Sep 20, 2026 for the second session, and Oct 30, 2026 for the third session.
