Visiting Scholars in SLAT/English Applied Linguistics

We encourage interested individuals either working towards a PhD at another institution or who already hold PhDs in topics related to the specialties of EAL faculty to be visiting scholars here in Tucson for periods of one to six months. See EAL faculty profiles for current specialties.

Scholars may audit classes and meet with faculty regularly for advice and guidance on their own projects. They should have their own funding and prepare to support themselves while in Tucson.

Interested individuals should first contact the faculty with whom their research coincides to ask for support and explain their project. Generic projects or those having to do with topics dissimilar from the specialties of our faculty are discouraged.

Visiting scholars are sponsored by the SLAT PhD Program and are welcome to also sit in on courses and consult with any SLAT faculty. Once the EAL faculty agrees to work with a visiting scholar, they will be directed to the SLAT visiting scholars program for institutional support.

We also welcome MA students from university programs with which the EAL program has established partnerships for short term visits. For more information on this possibility, please contact EAL Program Director Dr. Jonathon Reinhardt at jonrein@arizona.edu.
