Lauren Camille Mason received her PhD in English from Michigan State University (Go Spartans!).  Her research interests include visual culture, urbanism, and globalism in contemporary novels and films.  She is currently working on a book-length project that examines photographic and mass-media representations of Blackness in the twenty-first century.
