The Undergraduate Office of the English Department at the University of Arizona is seeking 1-3 Outreach, Student Experience, and Publishing Interns for Fall 2025 who have strong communication, writing, and organizational skills. These interns will be responsible for developing programs and maintaining communication between the department and the undergraduate community.
In the Fall of 2025, interns will be active in several different initiatives of the undergraduate office: (a) developing, laying out, and expanding the undergraduate newsletter; (b) facilitating the “meet your classes” event; (c) developing a monthly extracurricular event for undergraduate students; (d) researching, developing, and maintaining a social media presence for English undergraduate information; (e) writing student/faculty/alumni/staff profiles for an undergraduate audience and publication.
Familiarity with page layout tools like Publisher, and social media platforms such as Insta, TikTok, YouTube, and/or Discord is desirable, but not necessary.
Duties may include:
• Attending some meetings of the English Undergraduate Office Team (held on Tuesday mornings)
• Researching and writing copy about English Undergraduate programs for publication
• Preparing information for publication, in digital and print formats
• Assisting with the organization of student events
• Marketing via digital and analog platforms
• Helping implement a social media strategy for the English Undergraduate Office
• Document editing
• Outreach to recent alumni and community organizations such as schools and libraries
Reports to:
Interns will report to Paul Hurh, Interim Director of Undergraduate Studies
Requirements:
Interns must be a sophomore or higher in English, Creative Writing, Professional and Technical Writing, or related discipline. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, and a background in the study of English and/or Writing is desirable.
Hours:
Interns will work 8 hours a week for the 16 week semester (or the equivalent to 128 hours total).
Compensation:
Currently there is no monetary compensation available. This internship carries the instructional credit of 3 units.
