English Shout Out to Dr. Shelley Rodrigo for her work as President of NCTE!
Over the last year she has been working as President of the National Council of Teachers of English, taking charge of the largest and oldest English teacher organization in the country while at the same time working her administrative work for the Writing Program and mentoring and serving as dissertation chair for many graduate students in RCTE! This is no easy task! In her role as NCTE President, she advocated (and continues to do so) for ALL teachers of English around the country. Right before Thanksgiving, Shelley officially took the role of immediate past president of the organization. Congratulations, Shelley, on your transition to immediate past president.
“NCTE has been my professional home for 20+ years because its mission aligns with mine: The Council promotes the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.”
