This course examines cutting-edge approaches to TESOL curriculum design, focusing on the integration of inclusive and critical pedagogies and approaches in language teaching. Students will explore how contemporary methodologies (e.g., translanguaging pedagogy, genre-based pedagogy, intersectional pedagogy, corpus-informed pedagogy,, etc.) can be applied to develop curricula that are responsive to the diverse needs of English language learners. The course emphasizes the importance of fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and adaptability in TESOL curriculum design and assessment. By engaging in a wide range of class activities, students will gain the tools necessary to create inclusive and effective TESOL curricula, laying the groundwork for advanced curriculum development in future courses.
