MFA Alumni

Awards and prizes that our graduates have earned include the Pulitzer Prize, two finalists for the National Book Award, the Whiting Award, Mark Twain Award, The Brittingham Prize, The James Laughlin Award, Yale Younger Poetry Series, the Fence Modern Poets Prize, the Iowa Poetry Prize, Pen West Award and Pen USA Award.

Fellowships and residencies that our graduates have garnered include John S. Guggenheim, MacArthur Genius Grant, the National Endowment from the Arts, Lannan Literary Fellowship, Wallace Stegner, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Wisconsin Institute, and many others, most recently Rona Jaffe and Lilly/Rosenberg fellowships.

Our grads have been included in anthologies such as the O. Henry, the Pushcart Prize Anthology, the Best American Short Stories, Best American Essays, Best American Poetry, and in Norton's Postmodern American Poetry anthology, among many others.

Kati Standefer and Francisco Cantu both have essays included in Best American Essays 2016, guest-edited by Jonathan Franzen.
