Funding and Teaching Opportunities

This is a list of current opportunities and financial support available to graduate students in the Department of English, including position descriptions, eligibility requirements, selection criteria, salary/stipend, and workload expectations. TEACHING WORKLOAD RELEASE

RESEARCH SUPPORT

  • Graduate College Fellowships
    This website lists a wide range of research, travel, and other kinds of support
    for graduate students at UA.  Eligibility and criteria vary.
     
  • Graduate Student Research Fund
    The Graduate Student Research Fund is set up for English Department graduate students to finance travel costs associated with conducting research or field work. Up to four (4) awards are issued in a year. Award recipients may receive funding for only ONE research project per fiscal year (July 1-June 30). The Fund reimburses a maximum of $500. Applicants are encouraged to match these funds with other sources of support such as the SBSRI Pre-Dissertation Fund, GIDPAC, or a GIDP student research support fund.
     
  • SBSRI Graduate Student Awards
    The College of SBS Research Institute offers two different opportunities for graduate student funding.  A Pre-Doctoral Award provides $500 in research or travel support for masters or doctoral students.  The Dissertation Award provides $2,000 to support dissertation projects for advanced doctoral students.  Deadlines are in late September and late January of every year.
