First-Year Placement

Composition is one of the General Education Foundation requirements at UA. The university requires two semesters of composition for all students. The Writing Program offers several different courses for satisfying this requirement, including specific sections for non-native speakers of English and an honors course that combines both semesters into one.

In order to register for your first-semester composition class, you must have a Writing Placement "score" recorded in UAccess. Placement is determined differently for different groups of students.
