English Undergraduate Advising

Declaring an English or Creative Writing Major

Declaring an English or Creative Writing major requires completion of an online information session.  Once the session has been completed, you will be prompted to download and complete a form to officially declare the major.  This completed form must be submitted to the English Undergraduate Advising Office for the major to appear on your Academic Record.  You may access the information session by clicking on the corresponding link on the menu to your left.

Scheduling an advising appointment is easy:

Once you have completed the online information session and wish to speak to an Academic Advisor, you may schedule an appointment.  Please click here to schedule an appointment online.

We look forward to working with you soon!

Please note: Any student more than 10 minutes late for an advising appointment will be required to reschedule. Students that miss appointments during priority registration will not be allowed to reschedule until after the priority registration period.

Transfer Students

Transfer students must meet with an Academic Advisor for a Transfer Orientation in order to have access to course registration.  Students should apply for University admission and then complete the online Transfer Student Academic Preview in the Next Steps Center.  Upon completion of this module and all necessary components of the Next Steps Center, students will be directed to contact their Academic Advisor.  For information and to apply, visit the Admissions site.

Readmitted Students

Students who are being readmitted to the University after an absence must first reapply to the University of Arizona through the Office of Admissions. Once the student has received notification of readmission, they may schedule an appointment to meet with an Academic Advisor.  There are strict deadlines for readmission and students must apply for readmission prior to these dates as exceptions will not be made.  Please note that students who did not leave in good academic standing have earlier deadlines and will complete additional steps for consideration of their application.

Prospective Students

Prospective students who are seeking more information about the Department and its programs are encouraged to meet with the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Call the English Undergraduate Advising Office at 520-621-5421 to set up an appointment with the Director.  Freshman students must apply for admission to the University of Arizona and attend a New Student Orientation session.
