English Minor

There are 21 units required for the English minor. Of these, 9 units must be upper-division.*

Core Course: 6 units

280: Introduction to Literature

380: Literary Analysis

 

Minor Elective Courses: 15 units

At least 6 units must be upper-division. Choose your electives from 200-level (200-299), 300-level (300-399), and 400-level (400-499) ENGL courses. Students may develop a concentration in the minor by taking 12 units of related coursework. Examples of concentrations include, but are not limited to:

  • American Literature
  • British Literature
  • Rhetoric and Composition
  • Race and Ethnicity
  • Border Studies
  • Film & Literature
  • Gender/Sexuality
  • Language and Linguistics
  • Drama as Literature

Please see an advisor to declare a concentration. Upon graduation, you will receive a certificate reflecting completion of your chosen concentration.  All students must have a 2.0 minor GPA to graduate. This requires that at least three English units must be taken at the University of Arizona.

 

*ENGL 380 counts toward the 9 units of upper-division credit.
