NOS Welcome

New Oriental Education Seminar

University of Arizona

Dear NOS Participants:

Welcome to the Department of English at the University of Arizona!

My colleagues and I are excited about this great opportunity to host you for an intensive training program to mark a collaborative initiative between New Oriental Education in China and the University of Arizona in the United States. Our purpose is to help you broaden your minds and expand your horizons by communicating with our faculty and students, and by engaging yourselves in discussions on various subject matters through intensive language contact and cultural exposure.

We have prepared a wide array of topics to address your diverse needs. We will bring together aspects of language, literature, and culture though a variety of formats, such as lectures, seminars, workshops, observations, and reflections to make your stay here worthwhile.

We have enlisted scholars and specialists from the larger campus community in addition to those from our Department, and we have also enlisted the participation of our own graduate students to help with the program.

I appreciate the support from our University and our College of Humanities, Dean Mary Wildner-Bassett, in particular. I am also very much indebted to the support and coordination of our staff team led by Lourdes Aguirre Canto.

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy this program and enjoy your stay here in Tucson. I wish you all a great success.
